Spanish Technology and Innovation Platforms present a report on innovation challenges in the construction sector
On 15 October, at the State Research Agency, the Conference on Innovation in the Construction Sector was held, promoted by national Technology and Innovation Platforms related to the sector. During the event, success stories and challenges for the advancement of more sustainable construction were analysed, in addition to the presentation of a report that brings together the main challenges and opportunities for technological development in the short and medium term in the field of energy in the sector.
Paloma Pérez, coordinator of GEOPLAT, highlighted geothermal energy as a vital renewable energy in the objective of decarbonising cities and the work carried out by the Platform to promote progress in R&D&I in geothermal technologies and their transfer to the market. Marcel Hendriks (Arcadis) explained how the geothermal heat pump works, an efficient and renewable solution for air conditioning (both heating and cooling) buildings.
María Ángeles Ferre, head of the Scientific-Technical Thematic Programmes Subdivision of the State Research Agency of the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities, closed the event by applauding the Platforms for collaborating and working together to solve challenges and join forces to achieve global solutions, innovate, decarbonise or digitalise in a sector as important as the construction sector.
