PowEARTHful energy

The Canadian Geothermal Energy Association (CanGEA) recently launched their ‘powEARTHfu’ Energy campaign and they have already passed the halfway mark.  This campign is the largest awareness raising effort anywhere in the history of geothermal power.  The have been fortunate to have media assist thenm with getting the message out. Check out what The Globe and Mail had to say about geothermal opportunities in Canada.

For everyone who has ever wondered why geothermal power and heat isn’t already in Canada’s energy mix, they have prepared an Open Letter to the Geothermal Community.  The letter outlines how this industry needs to move forward to be able to compete as the lowest cost renewable option, and often the lowest cost of energy, period, in the market as it already does in dozens of other countries.

This is an historic occasion to finally bring geothermal energy to Canada.  Small donations from individuals that equal the price of a coffee that you might forgo today add up quickly in a crowd funding campaign.  And for companies, this is one of the least expensive forms of business development you’ll ever have the opportunity to do.  If you work in government, your department may not have yet accepted geothermal, but this is your personal chance to lend your support.
